Great Information on the Deferred Resignation / Fork in the Road

February 02, 2025

The Deferred Resignation / Fork in the Road offer forces Federal employees to make a life altering decision in ten days based upon incomplete and sometimes contradictory information. To help employees make their decisions, I researched and found resources about this topic.

Tammy Flanagan’s recent  column for Government Executive Magazine can be found here. The article explains what is known, what is not known and what employees can do now.

Also, Tom Temin interviewed Tammy about this on the Federal News Network. The interview and a transcript are available here

The Washington Post offers two good articles in today’s paper. To read online, you must have a subscription or give the Post your email. Both articles offer a somewhat different approach and are worthwhile.

  • Business columnist Michelle Singleterry’s article points out the ways OPM’s email to employees resembles a scam email. The on-line address is here.
  • Annie Duke, a decision expert and author, offers a test to help employees make their decision. It is here. I am not sure it is available in the paper.

Chris Kowalik at FedImpact is another good source. Her detailed analysis is available here.

I hope these help.
